Current Events: Airstrikes in Syria
There were airstrikes in two separate towns in Syria killing at least 57 people and injuring many, most of whom are in critical condition which will add to the death toll. The continued fighting came two days before the United Nations meetings discussing peace, according to the UK based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. On of the airstrikes was in an ISIS held village called al-Shaafa and it killed 34 people, 15 of which were children. The other airstrikes was at a rebel held suburb of Damascus that killed 23 people. The Syrian regime has surrounded this suburb for many years so this airstrike was definitely put on by the Syrian regime, but the first airstrike may have been caused by Russian Forces. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that they let out airstrikes on ISIS strongholds, but it is still unclear who hit the village of al-Shaafa.

I seriously wonder how long parts of the Middle East will be completely corrupted with war and extremism. Obviously there are so many good people that live in the Middle East but their countries are dominated by bad minorities that have risen to such great power. Many efforts are being enforced to take down these horrific organizations, but it is so difficult to do so without killing innocent people. ISIS has caused so much tragedy in America, such as 9-11, so imagine how many tragedies occur in the Middle East, many of which are not reported.

  1. What makes this worse is that many of these people have probably sought help but just don’t have the ability to receive it. I hope our county can do something to show our support.

  2. What makes this even worse is the fact that revolts and rebellions against corrupt governments have happened in the Middle East, but it's never the fault with the revolts it's the fault with the system of power they create afterwards. It always ends in turmoil and with a dysfunctional system of power.
