Gun Control Spikes on Black Friday- Ellen Fritz

The FBI requested over 200,000 background checks for gun purchases on Black Friday, an increase in last years record of background checks by 110%. Last year, merely 185,713 background checks were requested. The reason for the increase in checks for gun purchases is due to the fear that another shooting will occur. Fear of another act of gun violence, such as the shooting in Las Vegas. 2017 has had the highest rates for mass shootings so far, with 317 shootings so far.
Hopefully, the FBI will continue to request background checks for those purchasing guns. Congress needs to pass more extensive gun control laws in order to prevent massacres. People should feel protected by the law, not threatened by it.
