Liza Kaye: the new symbols of hate

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/21/us/hate-symbols-changing-trnd/index.html

With all of the sudden change occurring in the United States this year, new hate signs have adapted. One of the new symbols is a swastika that his a slight change to the top lines. Initials and numbers have also emerged as new hate signs. Often, a tattoo or drawing of a dice thats' dots equal to fourteen serve as a symbol. The number 14 symbolizes the "14 words." Additionally, 88 on the dice refers to "hail hitler."

This relates to history because the same hate is in existence. Although the symbol of a swastika has slightly changed, it still means the same thing it did in the 1900's. Hate has been in existence for an eternity and it seems as if nothing has changed since the emergence of hate in history.

  1. This is crazy that people can be so hateful in plain sight. The creativity needed to express this much anger is really disheartening and a waste of time and energy.

  2. With the sudden surge of hate, especially Nazism, it seems that most Nazis believe Trump and his administration will bolster this hate. They think that they are evolving, but they're not.

  3. History repeats itself and hate remains, but we shouldn't forget that there are still good people in the world, and there always have been, and with education comes moral awakening. So yeah, hate symbols have evolved, but so has kindness. (This sounds really cheesy but I'm sick and kinda not lucid)

  4. We are living in a war on the subconscious mind, and symbols are the weapons. The ability to convey the meaning of an entire idea with a simple visual image is one of the most powerful skills we can have in this day and age. We must fight back using symbols of love.
