Liam Taylor - Politics at the Oscars?

Summary: The actor (Brandon Victor Dixon) who plays Aaron Burr in 'Hamilton' on Broadway told CNN that he expected politics to be a leading influence at the Oscars tomorrow night. He even is a culprit of bringing politics into the theater world by delivering a speech to Mike Pence during a curtain call, after learning that he was attending the show. Dixon says he has no regrets of what he said, and he feels as though everyone needs to get their voice heard if they have the chance.

Analysis: This article was written tonight, February 25, 2017. It was composed by CNN, a reliable and trustworthy source. I really think one of the main ideas of this article is to show how much politics has had an influence during Donald Trump's presidency. So many are happy, while others are angry, which leaves for politics being brought into everything, as well red carpet events.

Synthesis: This reminds me a lot of the civil rights movements of the '50's. How I mean that is that the fight to end social injustice was integrated into everything. This is similar, as everyone is talking about politics nowadays, but in some ways it's the opposite. I say this because at the end of the civil rights movement, things got better, but I'm not sure if Trump is doing anything to make America better.

  1. Honestly, as important as it is to discuss and share political views, I think some people need to just stop yelling about their beliefs, whether it be on FaceBook or in Oscar speeches.

  2. I agree with Kennedy! There is a lot going on right now with politics, and a lot of disagreement between sides. I, too, agree that it is good to share your opinion or certain arguments, but sometimes I think it's good just to let it be.
