Protecting the Immigrants -Karina Enriquez

Summary:
In this time at the moment there have been many immigration situations in which have been getting out of hand, people are doing what they can do to help . People like the pastor Ada Valiente and help from rev. Zachary Hoover want to help those families who don't have anything remotely bad but creating a life in the United States following the idea of the "American Dream" which began back during the great migration. Along with the home Hoover is providing due to him wanting to help people just as people helped him and the rest of the Jews to seek a sanctuary during World War II, we have the faith pastor Valiente is providing to help guidance those in need. This home will be helping two to three families who are being threatened by ICE or are fearing them. The home will serve as a sanctuary so that those families will feel protected and in a safe environment. People like Hoover and Valiente are slowly coming to a notice wanting to act upon what they believe in defense for those who don't really have any criminal records or anything bad holding them up just the fact that they came here to the United States because they are aware of the immense amount of opportunities there are here and a possibility for a better life not only for them but for a family .

Analysis:
This article was written by Kyung Lah,Alberto Moya, and Mallory Simon for the news network CNN. I had heard of people doing things like this in order to help those in deep need of protection from ICE. The authors seem to have added a little bit of opinions supporting the idea of helping the immigrants. This is not the first time in history in which activist or regular people have been wanting to help immigrants. Jane Addams helped create a safe settlement for immigrants called the Hull House, which in a way was very similar to what Hoover and Valiente are working on today . As we can see people will always be fighting for what they believe in and immigration has been topic that has been spoken about as early as 1889 in the creation of Hull House.

  1. Kiri Luckey: This is so sad! I hate how these poor, innocent people have been seperated from their families. I'm glad that they are offering sanctuaries for them to help them feel safe and give them hope.
