Ava Noble: Millions Without Water in Chile

Summary:
In Santiago, Chile, water has been cut off for millions of people. This was caused by rainstorms and landslides. Many businesses and restaurants were told to stay closed, and many people are striving to stock up on as much water they can get. Until the water can flow more clearly, the water to the majority of the city is cut off from the Maipo river. Severe isolation was created because of the large amount of water flowing from the Andes. 1.45 million people have been affected by this. Four people have died from these floods.

Analysis:
Hearing about this made me extremely sad. Nobody should have to go a day without access to water. It is so sad that there is only so much they can do when it is a natural disaster. Nature sometimes cannot be controlled, and in this case, they cannot do much more to help control the flooding. Prior to reading this article, I had not heard about this. To synthesise, I can connect elements of this event to the Mississippi River Flood of 1993. I am hoping that city continuously works towards getting people the water and help they need.

  1. This is so sad! It's always terrible to hear about natural disasters, because you can only do so much, and it makes it hard for those affected by these events. I really hope they can get access to water soon!

  4. This is so sad to hear because there isnt much we can do to stop it or help them. I can't even imagine going for a period of time without drinking water. I hope they can get access soon.
