Mackenzie Bessner- 74 people found dead

The bodies of 74 migrants washed up on the Liberian Coast. They were recovered by the Libyan Red Crescent. Circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but a torn rubber dinghy was supposedly found nearby. Volunteers that responded to a call the other morning say they believed the people drowned while trying to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe. As reported, there are still more bodies out in the water, but they are unable to be reached because the sea is very rough and they don't have boats so it would be too hard, but those bodies should be expected to eventually wash up to shore as well. The reason for all of the dead bodies was thought to be that their boat had gotten into some difficulties.

This news is so sad, I can't believe they found a pretty decent amount of bodies and that's not even all of them. This was posted very recently and prior to reading this article I had heard nothing about it. I hope that the water can become less rough and that reporters can get boats to find more deceased bodies, and see if there are any alive ones as well. This can relate to history because in 2010, more than 100 bodies washed up to the Libya's coast, so I guess this has been going on for a while, hopefully this problem can get fixed!!

  1. This is so shocking. I hope that in the future they can become better at discovering instances such as these!
