Trump's "Uncomfotable" Visit to CIA headquarters: Regan Saldana

Summary:

During the first week after President Trump's inauguration, his first official trip taken a commander in chief was to CIA headquarters. This speech was in theory made to help smooth over differences and or arguments between his position in office and intelligence agencies. Although this was the intent, this was not the outcome. Trump began his speech by taking note to failures in the agency leading up to the Iraq war. He continued with many points recognizing his opinion on the arguments the media had "started" between him and the agency. Despite his opposition to mend his relationship with the agency, Trump ended his speech with a pledge to support the agency while he is in office. And with the arguments he mentioned in his speech, many current and past CIA agents were angered by the topics president Trump argued in his speech.

Analysis:

This article was said to be written by CBS News itself and claims no specific author. The article was created on January 23, 2017 at 7:22 am. This time period that the story was written in was tow days after the actual event of the speech. This effects how the story was able to obtain the opinions of many people involved on the event through further time and research. My prior knowledge to reading this article was only the fact that Trump had blamed the media for many disputes he has had between many federal agencies. This effected my point of view by showing me he was still putting blame on the media for his relations with the CIA. This article was written for the overall audience of the American people to update them with the events, actions, and relationships that the new President was making during the first week of his presidency. It mostly had a negative effect on the audience because it was written to show that thee president could have mended ties with the CIA through this speech but instead created more arguments. The main idea of this story was President Trump's first actions and speeches as the commander in chief. This was significant because it showed how the new president was dealing with issues and disputes in our country.

  1. If he can't even show the slightest bit of diplomacy within our own government, how on earth will he be able to broker peace deals or arms treaties?
