Rachel Bozalis - White House blocks news organizations from press briefing

Today, February 24, 2017, Trump held a semi private Q&A session. Rather than make the event private by inviting those whom he wanted to attend, he instead listed media groups who were to be excluded. Among them were CNN, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico, BuzzFeed, the BBC and the Guardian, all of whom have been known to publish facts about Trump that he "dislikes" or finds to be "untrue." CNN has released a statement that, "This is an unacceptable development by the Trump White House. Apparently this is how they retaliate when you report facts they don't like. We'll keep reporting regardless." Nothing like this has ever happened in our country's history, and many are worried and ready to fight back to preserve our right to free speech.

It took me so long to complete this because of how. heated. I. am. This is unacceptable. My fire of retaliation has been further ignited and I will passionately violate any and all policies I fundamentally disagree with passed by our current government as well as any to come. Just as Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi, MLK, and Rosa Parks did, I believe the approach of civil disobedience will have the most impact on our current situation. The first amendment was written into our constitution 226 years ago to protect our fundamental human rights and has since been fought for and protected by our government. Any act of legislature or incident thus far that has infringed upon these rights has been repealed and I am so shocked that something so backwards and regressive is occurring in the government of a previously recognized progressive country. I can only hope and pray and fight for this backwardness to end soon. These issues happen in places like China where there is heavy censorship and the true actions of the government are often hidden from the people, who have little to no say in their government. In the past, the US has pushed for this censorship to end, as the people have the right to know what is happening in their government as well as in their world. What is to come for us now?
