Seanelle Higgins: Cincinnati Club Shooting

Summary: Two men are facing mirder charges in Cincinnati after a shooing in a night club. Police there have already made an arrest for Cornell Davis, 27, and have yet to arrest the other shooter. They also expect that other people may be involved in the incident, but for now they are focusing on adding charges to the two suspects as the investigation increases. The incident began with a simple altercation, but progressed into a fight in which both suspects pulled out their weapons and fired at one another. One person has unfortunately passed away and 16 were left severely injured. Only 16 casings were discovered, but police suspect that more shots were fired due to the number of people injured or dead.

Analysis: I think that this is a terrible incident that could have been prevented. This is a clear reminder for America that we have a serious gun control issue. If these individuals did not have guns, the altercation could have ended with a simple bar fight and they would have only injured each other, rather than innocent people. People are responsible for their own actions and how they handle guns, but it becomes an issue when bystanders are brought into the mix, simply because a dangerous weapon became involved. I hope this is the last incident that we see like this for a long time. I cannot speak for out current presidential administration,  I sincerely hope our next one will be a strong advocate for gun control and gun violence prevention.
