This article discussed a recent study done by cnn about teens and their attachment to their phones and social media. Child development experts studied teens social media accounts across the country in an attempt to analyze the use and interactions between kids in social media.
Social media particularly has become a huge part of our daily routine. We are constantly able to update our own lives or find out what is going on in other people's. This access allows us to interact with our families and friends, as well as celebrities or strangers. Although it can be entertaining, social media has its downsides. Like this article stated, a lot of bullying occurs over social media. People are constantly pointing out peoples flaws or trying to cause drama. Social media can also be dangerous when people begin interacting or sharing personal information with strangers. It is also kind of sad to see how attached we are to our cell phones, especially with younger kids. Some of the teens in this article were very dramatic when talking about how much they depended on and used their phones. This relates to U.S. history because it shows how advanced our technology has become and its effects on us currently.

This is very interesting, yes technology in general can have its disadvantages on us but it can also be very good and it keeps us moving forward.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Avery! Technology has it's deficits but it also has it advantages and it is intwined into our modern society.
I think that the advantages to new technology outweigh the disadvantages when it is used correctly. Although, I can not argue the fact that this generation spends a lot of time on their phones I can say that the temptation of social media is all around us.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it scares me when there are like 5 year olds with ipads. It's like wait what? You don't like going to the park or something? It's very different and you can see how they're going to have a very different generation. (Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)
