Bernie Sanders has stated his idea to raise taxes (more so on the wealthy) to help rebuild the infrastructure of this country and to also provide free healthcare for all citizens. He said ""And what I want to do is have the United States of America join the rest of the industrialized world, every other country in guaranteeing health care to all people." This idea would take its course over ten years and add up to fifteen trillion dollars total.
Personally, I think this is a great idea because I think that people shouldn't have to suffer because of illnesses just because they don't have money. Many other countries provide a similar option of free healthcare to all of their citizens and I think the United States should follow.
However, people are never too thrilled about tax raises, but it's the only way to really provide money for a this idea. Like the new Americans after the United States just became a country, they opposed any kind of taxation because of its unfortunate past, but in the end it provided enough money for the government to help the citizens.

I agree healthcare should be free, but I'm wondering how he's going to get people in congress to agree with him and get something done.
ReplyDeleteBob Cummins, 6th Period- It's a good idea, but it's pulling it off well that can be very troublesome to the economy and peoples' health.
ReplyDeleteI agree health care is something that should be free it is a necessity. But raising taxes is and will not go over well for many.
ReplyDeleteIf the government didn't raise taxes, where else would they get the money? Healthcare is definitely a necessity and should be easily accessible to all citizens, rich or poor.
ReplyDeleteI just want to see how all this will come into play. Sander's plan is unlike any plan for the US so far. On one hand, I don't want to be apart of the era where this kind of experimentation is happening because I don't want it not to happen or worse to fail but at the same time it's always nice to see that the potential president is willing to make such drastic changes that could benefit a middle class person like me.
