Real Black President???
by: Morgan T. Smith
Summary: Ben Carson, neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate told CNN that he supports Rupert Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch controversially tweeted earlier this week comparing Carson and President Obama's black identities:
Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else.
Later Murdoch proclaimed that he was referring to a New York Magazine article stating ways the President hasn't help people of color and tweeted: “Apologies! No offense meant. Personally find both men charming.”
Analysis: Racism has existed for years in history. By using the word "real" it's just another example how racism is seen everyday.
I agree that we need to assess the issue of racism more in the U.S. I also think that Murdoch was just trying to cover the fact that he indirectly insulted Obama on twitter. I think that he should have used his brain before tweeting that, implying that Obama is not truly black and does not care about slavery.
ReplyDeleteWhy did people freak out when Obama was elected president and they wanted to see his birth certificate and citizenship stuff and now with Carson they're all "oh cool a REAL black dude for prez!" it doesn't make sense.
