It’s North Korea Again

Summary: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un declared that his country was ready to stand up to the United States as shown in a giant military parade. The parade celebrated the 70^th anniversary of the North Korean Communist party. It featured thousands of soldiers, military hardware-missiles, tanks, drones, and planes, a speech by Kim Jong Un, and Chinese Communist Party official Liu Yunshan. The normally isolated Pyongyang was flooded by Russian and Mongolian groups dedicated to the study of North Korea’s politics. An expert in Seoul identified the new weapons shown in the parade as a 300 millimeter rocket and a KN-08 ballistic missile with a range of 6,200 miles. The same defense expert said that North Korea didn’t show off its most destructive weapons because of the presence of the Chinese government. However, this was still the biggest military parade in North Korean history.

Synopsis: North Korea seems ready to take the fight to America, but we still have more missiles, the most current military technology, and the largest military in the world; I think we’ll be fine. North Korea’s posturing does seem like an act of war or preparation for one, but then again North Korea has behaved like this for 70 years. I will start to worry when the North Koreans can land a shot on American soil, but we should continue to keep an eye on them. What surprised me most about this was the active participation of the Chinese government, which seems like a much bigger issue in light of China’s cyber-attacks on the U.S.
