Hundreds March for Mississipi Flag Change Alexis Williams
On Sunday October 11,2015 hundred of people gather outside of the Jackson State University College campous. They are marching for one cause and one cause only and that is to get the state of Mississipi to change there state flag to just one flag. As of now Mississipi has a state flag and a confederate flag as their state flag. Many belive this is unfair. They think that the state flag should represent the state as a whole. The leader of this protest Miss Sharon Brown says that she's doing this for her mother. She saw that a change needed to be made and now she is trying to changeit. An incedent in South Carolina that happened a couple months ago was very similar to this situation, and people participating in this rally are hoping that people to understand so they ca learn from past mistakes.
hough ,amny belive this flag is an awful symbol connected to racism and slavery some actually think of it as a symbol of the history in that state. The confederate flag was a big symbol in the siuth and many people felt strongly abiut it.Mississipi was a big state during the Civil Rights Movements. This state was known its racist nature and miseatment of minorities. Many people are tired of this and think that it is time to retire this flag from all states for good.
