Emily Miller- Back to the Future day coming up

In Back to the Future Part II, Marty, Jennifer, and the Doc travel into the future, and that day is just about to pass us. Their destination was October 21, 2015. Although the movie was made in 1989, some of its future designs are surprisingly accurate. Speech recognition, video chatting, drones, holograms, and advanced eyeglasses have all become a reality.

This is important to US history because it shows how far we've come with technology. Flying cars are even in the works. Unfortunately, the tacky alien-esque costumes have not made fashion headlines yet, and self-fastening clothes and hoverboards are far from practical.

  1. Not even kidding I am so excited for October 21st. I was watching the movie a few weeks ago and it is so interesting to see how we have progressed into the predicted future and how we are still dreaming about our future of flying cars. Its fun to see how much we have in common with the people of the 80s.

  2. I agree with you, our world has progressed so much. Technology has advanced to things we would have dreamed about in the past.

  3. I cannot wait! (I also think it's interesting that we DO have hoverboards created, but they're deemed unsafe and therefore cannot be sold to the general public)

I have a special connection to this trilogy in the fact that the day Marty travels back is my birthday (October 26th) and the day he arrives in his parents' era is my brother's birthday (November 5th)! LOOK IT UP, it's pretty awesome!!

  4. I believe that this movie is actually the reason we have developed the majority of this technology. After all, it plants the idea of this technology in the brains of the young kids that eventually would go on to invent them.
