Nicholas Confessore, Maggie Haberman, and Sarah Cohen's article "Hillary Clinton Bets on Future With Spending Spree to Build Campaign Infrastructure" was published by the New York Times on October 16, 2015. Recently, campaign finances which revealed that Clinton has spent almost three times more than any other candidate were released to the public. Her aids say that she is preparing for the future by creating an organized campaign like the one President Obama had when he won the 2008 election against her. Comparatively, republican candidates like Jeb Bush are not raising enough money to support their spending habits. Trump, who never seems to fit the pattern, has spent relatively low on his campaign and instead has been using free social media to gain support. He has also spent almost a million dollars on campaign t-shirts.
I am excited to see how this all plays out in the upcoming months. The election is still over a year away so there is a lot of time for things to change. The United States' political system has evolved a lot since its beginning, when George Washington was elected unanimously. However, due to the differences between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, two parties have formed and no election since then has ever been so clear cut. Additionally, the United States political cycle has grown in length over time, mainly due to John F. Kennedy, who started his campaign earlier than any other candidate before him in order to convince the public that it was okay to have a Catholic president.

I never knew that politicians have so much on their plates during their campaigns. They have to take a lot into consideration, money, appeal to the public, their religion, and so much more. Good job on relating the current presidential debate to the George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and John F. Kennedy. - Brenna Hale(6th Period)
