The US Army just released a new policy allowing mothers to breastfeed. The policy itself is two pages and someone vague, intended to be a flexible policy. However, it's been said that its TOO vague to be useful. It's a step in the right direction but not completely where we want to be. The Army was the last military branch to create guidelines for nursing members.
This is a step towards equality. Although I think it's kind of strange to have a baby and be training in the military at the same, everyone's life is different so it's good to know that someone thought of this to help mothers training for the army. This shows that little things like, not providing spaces for breastfeeding, are big roadblocks in the way of women having equal opportunities as men.
I'm glad to know that; even if we aren't quite at gender equality, we are going positive steps forward!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, it definitely seems like a step in the right direction (even it does seem a little odd to have a small baby while training for the military)
ReplyDeleteGood that they are trying! But too bad they aren't trying hard enough.
