The US military gave 50 tons of ammunition to the rebel groups in northern Syria. This was the first step in the Obama Administration's urgent effort to find new ways to support those international groups. C-17s dropped small arm ammunition and other items like hand grenades to a coalition of rebel groups known as the Syrian Arab Coalition.
This gesture can either help, by creating an alliance with these Syrian rebel groups who might take over Syria, or hurt, by the Syrian government targeting the United States. This reflects us supporting the South Vietnamese in the Vietnam war. Because are huge support to fight against communism, we sent soldiers to help fight their war. This gesture of sending ammunition might just be the stepping stone to sending US soldiers to fight the Syrian's war. http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/12/politics/syria-rebel-groups-ammunition-50-tons/index.html
