Earlier in the summer, Cecil the lion, from Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, was hunted and killed by a man named Walter Palmer. He was going to possibly be faced with charges, but it turns out that their will be no charges against Palmer. Many of the Lion's fans are very upset with him, but he argues that he didn't know the lion was so famous. The lion, once killed was skinned and beheaded.
This was not the first time this had happened. Someone with the same name, Walter Palmer, was charged with illegally killing a black bear a few years ago in Wisconsin. Why shouldn't this man be charged, did he really have no idea that the lion was part of a National Park? The lion had a collar on... common sense.

Common sense? Sense when does anyone ever use that? I do agree with you that he should have used that and I can't believe they aren't pressing charges
ReplyDeleteI agree that he should be charged. He obviously hunts large animals for sport often and yet we still call animals the beasts. He wasn't even by himself, he had guides that helped him lure Cecil off the preserve and into the wild so they could shoot him with an arrow, track him for two days, kill him, skin and then behead him, how could that be okay in any possible way? I saw another article about the same story and they said all of his papers were in order to kill a lion (and that's still not okay) but he was on a preserve, a PRESERVE. We should just lock up the sadistic beast.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Shelby. He should be charged if he considers hurting large animals a sport. I just can't believe they didn't press charges!
Why would they not press charges, this man needs to be taught a lesson that killing is not a sport. All life is important, even if this was just a random lion I would hope that this man would have been charged.
