Madeline Jones 4th Period: Deputy Shot by Hospitalized Suspect

On Sunday, a deputy was shot and killed by a hospitalized suspect. The police deputy was guarding the man when the suspect grabbed his gun and shot him. The sheriff's deputy was 60 year old Steven Sandberg. The hospitalized suspect was 50 year old Danny Hammond. Danny Hammond also died that same day due to a medical emergency after being shot by a taser gun.
The numbers of police being murdered rises every year. Police murders began to rise in 1851 with only 5 policemen dead. Although this is a small number, the amount of police murders began to rise higher and higher with every year. By 1911, the amount of policemen dead rose to the hundreds with 130 policemen murders that year. 1930 had the most police murders with 301 dead. The numbers are real and they are rising. This is not something to blow off and forget about.  Policemen are here to serve and protect all citizens and not to be pushed around and murdered for doing their job.

  1. I feel that after a few men in uniform commit evil deeds, the entire occupation is now looked down upon. I hope that policemen are protected.
