summery: Walter Palmer, the man who killed Cecil the Lion, will not face charges for his poaching. The court says that his time of being shunned, humiliated, and critisized for the public, was enough. Walter Palmer is confused on why he is being so heavily critisized, because he shot the lion on legal hunting ground, and did not know it was Cecil. People are still very angry because he lured him out of the sanctuary, and skinned and beheaded a majestic creature, regaurdless if it was Cecil. He says it was his first problem he encoutered while hunting, even though a man with the same name, with the same age, from the same town, was reported for illegaly killing a black bear in Wisconson. Coincidence??
analysis: It is very unfortunate that a man can not be properly punnished for such a disgraceful crime. To take the life of such a beautiful creature seems very severe for no punishment. Although, being shunned by the public is a lot of heat to take, it is still not right, because if the government is still not doing anything about it, then it shows people who like to barbaricly kill innocent animals, that it is still being tolerated. Benidict Arnold had a similar punishment for his crime, being a double agent. When people found out he was doing this, he was always being threatened and harrassed by his peers. However, in his situation, the government punished him by execution. Some people on twitter say that Walter Palmer deserves the same outcome. If it is that intense, I dont know, but I think he should at least be made an example of, like Benidict Arnold, so people can see what happens when you poach.

ReplyDeleteI definitely think he needs to be punished. He deserves all the shame he's recieved for murdering innocent animals, but it serves as a bad example to just let him go. He'll probably go hunting again, and kill more endangered animals.
