Is mother responsible for Oregon shooting? -Bob Cummins, Per. 6

Synopsis:  After recent discoveries, some have blamed the mother of Christopher Harper-Mercer, Laurel Harper for the Oregon shooting.  She was the one who encouraged his fascination of guns, and even allowed guns in their home, though she knew of his violent tendencies and Asperger's syndrome.  Now she obviously wasn't the only influence.  His father wasn't around very much during his childhood, and he might have been bullied in school for his instability.  Most are highly doubtful that Harper tried to strengthen her son's violent tendencies; she might have seen guns as an escape for him.  Many blame it on gun laws and Harper's ability to obtain them easily.

Analysis:  I can't say that Christopher's mother is fully to blame, but it was careless and stupid for her to allow her unstable son to have guns.  It was easy for her to obtain them too, which is a huge problem in this country.  Ever since Sandy Hook, or even Columbine, people have been asking these questions about school safety and gun rights.  According to the Second Amendment to the Constitution, people have the right to bear arms, but it's obvious that more regulation is needed, at least a listing of medical diagnoses or something. Shootings have become more common, and the public is becoming numb to these events.   This can't become a normal occurrence, and it's obvious that something needs to change.

  1. I think she kinda had an influence on him but not much. Yes she allowed guns at home so he had easy acsese to them but its not entirally her fault.

  2. I completely agree. It is confusing as to why she would even allow her son to have a gun in his condition, but it is also not entirely her fault...
