Public Shaming of Mayor - Alyssa Hamilton

In honor of a police officer lost on duty the members of the New York City police turned their backs on Mayor Bill de Blasio. Even though the officers were asked not to use the funeral as a means to protest against the mayor, the officers did anyways. While it is not exceptionally clear in the article why the police were protesting the Mayor, the description of the funeral itself painted a wonderful picture of the officer lost on duty.
Through history many soldiers and officers have been lost, and there have been many times when the army hasn't quite agreed with methods used by the leader. During World War 1, not only did the army not want to enter, but the people didn't either. And although they did all fight for their country without hesitation they weren't particularly happy about it.

  1. It doesn't make sense to me that people would use such a terrible thing as a funeral as a way to protest the mayor.
