Obamacare - Veronica Nichols p2

The new website, healthcare.gov is finally running more smoothly which is good especially since the deadline to sign up is February 15th. This year if you don't have health insurance people will have to pay a fine. Since the implementation of this new law the number of people in the country without health insurance has fallen dramatically. The government is estimating that by February 15th approximately 9.1 million people will have signed up.

At first when this law was passed there was a lot of opposition that was voiced clearly and very loudly. Now it seems that people are much less opposed to it. The website is working much better then it did when it first came out and I feel like that is something that helps with all the opposition. Now that people don't have much of a hinderance when signing up it seems they are more willing too.

  1. People are just as opposed as before if not more so. For starters the GOP is currently hoping to repeal the affordable care act as soon as Obama is out of office. Secondly, the affordable care act is not so affordable many lower middle class americans are seeing there insurance rates increase at least 5,000$ a week. Universal health care, where everyone gets the same thing, is a threat to democracy and it is not fair and equal. It is not fair for a hardworking american to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the exact same coverage as someone who is recieving free health insurance. Both socialism and communism failed and our four fathers would be outraged by this program.
