After leaving the Los Angeles International Airport on the 14th, a plane turned around and landed back at the airport to treat a woman who had been stung by a scorpion shortly after the plane had left. Officials aren't yet sure as to how the scorpion, originating from Los Cabos, Mexico, got aboard the flight, although the plane did make it to it's destination in Oregon that day.
I think it's amazing how a scorpion could get on a flight as there are usually tons of protocols and safety regulations which have been put into place since 911 and well enforced. There are also regulations on which animals you can take on the plane and where with regards to states and animals that they allow to legally be sold, kept, and bred there. So as to how a scorpion managed to board a flight and crawl around unnoticed long enough to sting someone really is a puzzle.
Im not very surprised that a scorpion could have gone unnoticed. They can be so small and people policing the planes aren't looking for a scorpion so I can see how it could have easily slipped through the cracks.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a nightmare, can't believe it's a true story.

That's crazy! I don't think anyone would expect that.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I'm also not surprised that this happened.....there are so many people coming in and out of the plane. That scorpion could have come from anywhere.
