"Megadroughts" in Our Future- by Rachel Devine (6th)

A NASA study has recently revealed that if greenhouse gas emissions don't drastically drop soon, then the nation's West would face droughts that could potentially last for decades, also known as megadroughts. The droughts being experienced currently in California are bad, but nowhere in comparison to a megadrought. Scientists noted that droughts will get worse in general as time goes on, but the severity depends on how humans react.

The writer of this article compared these megadroughts to the Dust Bowl in the 1930s, but they would be even worse. This is extremely concerning and if people just wait around for this problem to fix itself, it will be bad news for the Central Plains and the Southwest. Because scientists have warned us, I hope precautions will be taken.

  1. I agree that precautions should be taken before it is too late.
