Preschool Druggies- by Rachel Devine (6th)

This week, a 4-year-old girl brought heroin to her daycare and passed it out to all her peers, thinking it was simply candy. According to the police, the little girl's mother accidentally switched her daughter's backpack with one of her own and is being charged with possession of drugs and endangering children. Due to the teachers quickly noticing that something was wrong and immediately taking the "candy," no one got "injured."

While at first I found this article to be somewhat amusing, I quickly realized it was not a laughing matter. Shame on the mother for putting all those innocent preschoolers in danger. Because the little girl "snuck in" the drugs, this article can be compared to other issues such as foreign immigrants smuggling into the US.

  2. Thats serious stuff, a whole classroom of kids could've been killed. Obviously this parent is too strung out to even know the difference between her kids food and her heroin, Not sure what should be done with her but I know she's not fit to be a parent.

  3. I agree with Julian, there is no reason a parent to have put the child in any situation like this. It is so irresponsible and uncalled for. Sadly the mom cannot even care enough for her own child to protect her or her own self.

  4. That is crazy! I also agree with Julian, she is not fit to be a parent. You can't just be focused on yourself if you're a parent.. Now adding drugs in the picture makes the situation grueling. It's terrible.

  5. It's awful that life threatening drugs were so easily placed in the hands of a child. I agree with Sophia, as a parent your child should always be the priority. In this case she was selfish and because of her actions she put many kids in danger. I do not think she is fit to be a parent at this time.

  6. i find this so horrible, and so irresponsible. Like why would the other backpack even be in reach of the child. Why would a mom even expose her child in that way
