This week, Becky Hammon will make history by being the first full-time female NBA coach this basketball season for the San Antonio Spurs. Hammon accepted the job this summer. She has loved basketball since she was a toddler. "To other women in the sport, she is an inspiration. To young girls, a role model. To some fans, a curiosity. To historians, a footnote."
It's great to see women taking the role that a man would usually play in America. This comes to show that although women may have the same rights as men, we still haven't yet actually caught up with them. Events like this could spark new movements in feminism. It's also cool to see how even though women got rights a long time ago, we are still adjusting to this new way of life.

I think that this is going to be a big step for the role of women in the sports community.

ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful that a woman is breaking down barriers and is now being accepted in a predominately male sport. I think she will inspire others and hopefully we will start to see more women in the future.
