Man is charged over slavery because he brought kid from Africa and treated the like they were his own. he used false documents to smuggle them in the US. He treated them very harshly and said some very nasty things to them. Even though he did not make them do much physical work he had them with him as part of his life. He was let out of prison in Togo and he said he brought them here because he wanted to give them and education and a better life.
It is harsh that there is people that would do something like this. Even though this was not like the slavery they had back then it is still slavery. they were brought here by force and were made do things they didn't want to do. This something that our unalienable rights protects and it is sad that some people still don't understand.
