Releasing Quarantined Nurse -Hadassah Lai

Kaci Hickox was quarantined in New Jersey after returning from South Africa. She was released when she told CNN that they were violating her rights after they kept her in there after testing negative for Ebola. Hickox was put in isolation after returning back from Seirra Leone. Her quarantine in New Jersey that had instituted for all health care workers who have come in contact with Ebola has been heavily criticized by the health department. There is a legal basis to challenge the quarantine policies in New Jersey, but Hickox is unsure of what to do next.

I think it's wrong to keep people quarantined when they test negative for Ebola. It is against their rights, since the state does not have a reason to keep them quarantined. Yes, we must take extreme precaution but this is forcing people to do what they don't want to do. I think that people are blowing Ebola out of proportions and that they should think twice before enforcing a rule. I do agree that we must be on the lookout and must be extremely careful, but we should not take the prevention of Ebola to the extreme.

  1. People are suspecting every cough case to be sign of Ebola. Just because someone comes back home from another country does not mean they are infected and ready to dirty the American landscape.
