10 Year Old Girl Becomes an inspiration ( Jose Lopez 4th prd)

Shyanne Roberts, a 10 year old competitive shooter from Franklinville, New Jersey, says that “Kids and guns don't always mean bad things happen." some critics review this statement as absurd. Anti-gun activists also criticized her statement. Using the recent case of a 9 year old girl killing her instructor in their favor to their objection of allowing guns anywhere near children...

analisys:
I think this is a very controversial topic because of that recent case with the 9 year old girl killing her instructor by accident. Shyannes father says “he’s comfortable knowing his daughter is well trained with a fire arm”. “I could have a fully loaded machine gun, and she would not dream of touching it because the curiosity factor has been eliminated." Is another thing he said, which I agree with. I personally am a very curious person and won’t be calm until I eliminate that curiosity. He believes that early firearm education and training are the keys to the reduction of gun accidents. He argues that if kids knew about guns at a young age, their curiosity wouldn't get the best of them, which I again, strongly agree with. This brings me back to the 2nd amendment, “The Right to Bear Arms”, an amendment that has brought a lot of controversy.

  2. Yea the story is inspirational but she is only giving other kids her age a reason to carry a gun. Whether their parents let them or not is a different thing, but children learn by example. I think her parents should keep this gun involvement to themselves to keep many of the other American kids safe. - Rachel Webb P3

  4. I had never thought about how a sense of curiosity could relate to this controversial topic. It is actually quite interesting because it does seem logical. On the other hand, it is not safe for a child so young to have control of a fatal weapon. Either side seems reasonable, and it seems this situation will never be peacefully resolved.

  5. The bottom line is that in no way it is safe for a child to be around a gun. There is always a risk when a gun is involved. I think it is ok to educate the child about the gun, but the dangers that come with it should also be stressed. It is possible to educate them without ever actually putting a gun in their hand.

  6. This girl is taking a stand to defend herself as a child. It does not change, however, that children should not be given full rights to fire arms until they are of age or supervised by the owner of the fire arm. It is also true that we do not know how the child may react to the fire arm or how they may take using it and apply it to everyday life.
