Texas Ebola Patient Dies- Myles Bennett

The ebola patient in Dallas has died today. He was in critical condition since he was diagnosed in mid-September. The people he has been in contact with are now being monitored. He had been getting the experimental drug for just over a week.

Analysis: This outbreak is like the smallpox that wiped out the Native Americans when we first started settling in the New World. So far, there is no approved cure, just like there was no cure for the smallpox for the Native Americans. It is very scary to know that this virus that has killed roughly 90% of the people infected has come so close to home. The patient had contact with five children while he was infected; one going to the school my mother teaches at. The child is being closely monitored and the children and staff at her school are perfectly safe, but it is still creepy that it is still something so serious we have to deal with.

  1. Wow Ebola is getting so serious. We need to honestly stop making jokes about this disease. I really hope they find a solution.

    1. What a jokester^^^

But I agree with Madana. We need to find a cure before things really get out of hand.

  3. I honestly believe that it could turn into an epidemic if we aren't careful. Not to say that we should live our lives in fear, but we should at least be careful.

  4. We are so lucky to live in a country with great health care to control such viruses. Still, everyone even outside of infected areas need to take precaution. Just like how transportation and trade of the Columbian Exchange created a small pox outbreak in the New World, our societies ability to move around the world can bring ebola everywhere.

  5. Ebola is scary, it has spread so easily. Now the nurse that took care of him has it and possibly the police officer.
