Warship Passage Near Disputed Island -Julianne Swaykus 6

Near a disputed southern China Sea Island, claimed by China and 2 other nations, A U.S. Navy destroyer passed within 12 miles of Triton Island. China's Defense Ministry claims to have forced the destroyer USS Curtis Wilber out of the area. "Pentagon spokesman Cmdr. Bill Urban said the freedom of navigation operation by the Wilbur took place Saturday near Triton Island in the Paracel Islands chain in the northern part of the sea 'to challenge excessive maritime claims.'"
This even reminds me of The Great White Fleet we sent around the world on December 16, 1907. China has been building up their navy, which has become a threat to the US, so as a reminder/warning, we sent one of our Navy destroyers around their territory.
