Madi Thoele, 4th Pd: Vanessa Hudgens Loses Dad, Performs In Show Hours Later

Summary: 27 year old Vanessa Hudgens lost her father, Greg, on Sunday, January 31st to stage 4 cancer. He was 65 years old. What makes this story even more sad is the fact that on this same day she starred as Rizzo in Fox's "Grease: Live" just hours after she received the news. She said she will perform in his honor.

Analysis: This must have been so hard for Vanessa to push through the show when she received the terrible news shortly before. She and the suffragettes of the Progressive Age are similar. The suffragettes had to deal with extreme and institutionalized sexism, but through it all, they stayed strong and eventually the 19th amendment was passed. Vanessa had to endure her tragedy, but performing in "Grease: Live" is a huge accomplishment she should be proud of. The suffragettes and Vanessa both have shown impressive perseverance and courage to come out strong and achieve goals. The show must go on!

  1. There is nothing more difficult than having to go through the loss of someone important in your life. To go out and do a performance just moments after a tragedy is quite impressive. The women in the suffrage movement did have to endure lots of hardships. Such as people criticizing them for even having the thought that they deserved more rights.
