Flint residents protest high bills for "poison" water-Katherine Flores

Summary: Flint Residents are currently being billed for water that they can't even use for drinking or bathing due to possible lead-contamination. They have been protesting against this situation with burning papers and ripping up water bills. Fire Stations have offered to give free water bottles and filters to the residents since this is the only way they won't get infected.

Analysis: I think this is outrageous. The fact that these people can't use their own water, but still have to pay the expensive bill at the end of the month is not fair. They should remove the bill or at least reduced the price. Although, I can understand that it is money that is needed for the city, I don't get why they can't find some solution to the problem instead of pretending it doesn't exist. That is just despicable on their part and is also disappointing to see. I would've hoped that by now the government could stop trying to ignore the problems they have and pushing them away as if they don't exist. On a larger scale, this same problem was seen in the Gilded Age. Problems were shoved under the rug, no questions asked and it wasn't until the Spanish American War ended,  America finally focused their attention on the domestic chaos the country was in.
