Blizzard on the Coast by Matthew Homsher 9th

Summary: A killer snowstorm assaulted the East Coast on the 23rd of January, this year. This storm has created record snowfalls in most states. People in New York City were told to stay home and a traffic ban was put in place. More than a foot of snow blanketed the Mid-Atlantic States, knocking out power to major cities, freezing motorists on interstate highways, and unleashing severe floods in New Jersey. The storm has also claimed 18 lives.  However, there is some good news to come out of this storm. After the traffic ban was lifted, children took to the streets in sleds, President Obama stayed in by the fire, and Pandas in the Smithsonian National Zoo frolicked in the snow.

Synopsis: The weather responsible for all this damage is strange to say the least. It was a random and very large storm that just appeared out of nowhere. In fact, New York had been extremely mild before it experienced this blizzard, which will go on the record as the second largest New York has ever seen.  However, the people and the pandas seem to be taking it really well. The storm seems to be only a minor setback.

  1. It's very interesting that rhe weather came so late- Christmas was warm, yet January is so so cold. I think that the panda was all of us.

  2. The weather does seem kind of bizzare and like it came out of no where. It really makes me sad, though to hear about all those people dead. It really makes the whole situation so bad and more than just a short term set back. I hope their families are doing okay.
