"Why haven't we heard from Ferguson grand jury?" by Sam Schaffer

The Missouri grand jury that convened for the judgment of Officer Darren Wilson ended its session Friday, after almost a week of deliberation concerning Wilson's shooting of teenager Michael Brown. Although signs pointed to the jury reaching a verdict by the end of the week, it ended its session without a verdict- leading to more tension in Ferguson, and questions as to whether the jury had made a decision that would've resulted in an outbreak of rioting and a collapse of the civil order.
Citizens and police forces in the city have been maintaining an uneasy peace, ever since rioting and physical violence between the two parties reached a peak in September. The police department has prepared for a resurgence in conflict following the verdict of the jury; however, without the verdict having been announced, the tension has skyrocketed. Citizens and officials are worried that the lengthy wait for justice will only result in a more pronounced return of the chaotic conditions of August and September, and the governor has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the civil unrest.
I think that it'll be bad after the jury releases the verdict, and worse if Wilson gets off free. Also perhaps they've already reached a verdict and simply are afraid to release the results.
