4 workers dead after chemical exposure-Mackenzie McGregor

On Saturday, four workers were killed after being exposed to the chemical, methyl mercaptan. The workers were exposed to the chemical due to a leak at a chemical plant in La Porte, Texas. There is currently a fifth worker hospitalized, but the worker is expected to make a full recovery. This story is somewhat connected to the poor conditions workers were forced to endure during the Industrial Revolution. The difference lies in the fact that the leak was an accident while the conditions during the Industrial Revolution were insufferable and were not important to factory owners. This incident enhances the argument concerning the safety conditions of working in environments such as factories and industrial or chemical plants.
