Teen Saves Baby- Iris Hughey p.5

On Wednesday of last week, 17-year-old Abby Snodgrass was quick to think when she heard a comotion a few aisles away in a High Ridge, Missouri Walmart. An 11-month-old baby suddenly stopped breathing and their mother frantically tried to revive them -- none of her attempts working. Snodgrass rushed over and began to perform CPR, which she had recently learned in a health class at her school. The baby eventually began to breathe, and emergency responders arrived shortly after. According to authorities, the baby and mother are now doing quite well.

I'm really glad to hear about such a positive story when most news articles are about the negative things happening in the world. Reading about this article also makes me wish that more schools (like BTW) should have classes that teach CPR or maybe even self-defense, rather than having classes that mostly just take up space (like a certain class that all juniors of BTW are required to take) Hopefully this can spark something in school district officials to create new, beneficial classes.

  1. This is such a wonderful story in contrast with all the other current events. So students do end up learning life lessons in school. I agree, classes like CPR can prove to be very beneficial to students' lives.
