Buffalo Snow Storm Turns Deadly with Four Fatalities - Jack VanGorden 4th per.

There have been a reported four deaths in Erie County, Buffalo because of the early winter storm that swept the area. Many vehicles are getting stuck and stranded in the snow, including a bus carrying the Niagara University women's basketball team. Along with the snow, there were also high winds and thick drifts. Three of the four deaths were from heart attacks. The other occurred when the individual was pinned by a car trying to push it out of the deep snow. Conditions worsened and the New York National Guard had to be deployed to alleviate the situation. Officials have reported that about 150 vehicles have been stalled because of the weather. The New York State Thruway was also closed. The local weatherman didn't bring good news when he announced that "the storm shows little signs of easing." A snow advisory has been issued for the rest of the week.

While I was aware that all 50 states have been experiencing freezing temperature throughout the last couple of days, I didn't realize how intense the storms have been getting, especially in New York. You don't realize how deadly something as innocent as a snow storm can be. Hopefully the storm will ease. If not, I hope officials can come up with a plan to make sure that there are no more deaths.

  1. Everyone really needs to prepare for this weather as well as us since it's seems to be stronger this year.

  2. This opens your eyes to how harsh the weather can be. It makes me feel bad complaining about the 30 degree weather here in Texas when people are dying from blizzards somewhere else.

  3. I hadn't heard of how bad this storm had gotten. It's terrible that people lost their lives due to this storm and I hope that it eases up as soon as possible.
