You can say that social media has taken over our entire universe, when we drive, when we go to school, and apparently even when you fly. Writer, Katia Hetter, wrote of an incident that happened on JetBlue recently, and it sounds quite ridiculous. The reported incident took place when a passenger Lisa Carter-Knight, tweeted about being delayed in Philadelphia. The flight was allegedly delayed due to the intoxication of a pilot. The passenger then stated that she couldn't board the delayed flight due to her tweet. The airlines denied any such statement, and when she was confronted again she did not give a statement. I for one think this is absolutely ridiculous. If the airlines did kick her off of the flight due to her tweet, then I think that is rude and over the top. Social media and technology has taken over our entire world and now it determines where you can go. I think it is outrageous and takes away freedom of speech.
I agree with your commentary, and I believe that social media needs to become less of a necessity in our lives. It is very strange that the women was kicked off of the flight for this. Social media has been an outlet for people to say anything for years, and if there is no potential threat to anyone or thing, then I see no reason for that to stop.
