Questions Remains about how Dallas Nurse got Ebola : Vivie Behrens (Period 6, Week 2)

After the recent diagnosis of a Dallas nurse who contracted the Ebola virus, speculators have been considering how exactly she was exposed to the virus. Nina Pham, the infected nurse, was involved in treating the recent Ebola case regarding the recently diseased Liberian man, Thomas Eric Duncan. Pham followed the normal treatment protocol and was always wearing protective gear when in contact with Duncan. People do believe that she may have contracted to disease while removing her protective gear and accidentally exposing herself to any trace of the virus left behind on her Hazmat suit. Due to this incident, other doctors and nurses have been taking additional precautions and are routinely being monitored for any signs of symptoms.
This article was written in hope to spread awareness of the ominous Ebola virus and illustrate how it is being transmitted. Hopefully, due to this incident, healthcare professionals will avoid the disease by making sure the safest protocol is followed and the likelihood that their employers will come in contact with the disease will decrease. This incident is similar to the outbreak of smallpox in history because it was very contagious and fatal as well as difficult to contain and prevent.

  1. Ah, it's quite terrifying to know that even though she was really careful she still caught ebola. It shows that people need to be extremely careful with this disease.
