Monday morning, DISD trustee Bernadette Nutall was escorted off of a campus by three police officers when she was asked to leave by Superintendent Mike Miles, who accused her of trespassing when she came for an emergency staff meeting.
I personally find it confusing and annoying in that she had the right to be there, as the school had just lost so many staff as of Friday, and it was in the area that she represents on the school board. Yet, she was escorted off of the campus for trespassing after asking the superintendent about the changes he'd been making at the school. That makes even less sense to me, and I'm just hoping that all of those teachers and staff who lost their jobs will find a better place at this time.

How come no one has looked into Mike Miles yet? This sounds like either he is abusing his power as superintendent to do whatever he wants or he had her leave because he didn't like what she had to say. Nutall seems to be the victim in this situation and something should be done about it.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like it was blown way out of proportion. She obviously didn't understand something and wanted it clarified.
ReplyDeleteIf the Superintendent of the entire school district is so unwilling to interact with the people actually INSIDE his jurisdiction, then there is a problem. He is supposed to be serving the people, and, if he doesn't hear their voices, he cannot hope to do that effectively.
ReplyDeleteThis angered me greatly. Not only was Miles completely out of his jurisdiction, his reaction to the situation was childish. The school is under Mrs. Bernadette's district. As in she's who the staff and parents of these south Dallas schools voted to represent them on the board of trustees. However I may just be biased because I've known Mrs. Bernadette since I was very young. So I know the type of person she is. She's not the type of person to do anything that she didn't feel is right and she also isn't the type of person who will stand for such disrespect.
