5 possible scenarios for Election Day, and what'd they mean- Nik Puri

As we prepare for the midterm elections tomorrow, we need to take a glance at how things look. According to polls, the Democrats are in favor of winning the house. It's unlikely that the Democrats win the house while the GOP holds the senate because the republicans have hung tough when it comes to possibly nicking a senate seat in many red states Democrats have to defend. According to the Cook Political Report, the Democrats are favored to win 18 GOP seats and the Republicans are favored to win 2 democratic seats. Another scenario is that a blue wave consumes the house, and the senate is tight. That would mean that the majority of the 30 toss-ups are going to the democrats, with potentially some upsets in districts Republicans are expected to hold. The democrats could also win both chambers, with the blue wave also consuming the senate. From this, the best possible outcome would be Democrats holding North Dakota- and batting 1.000 on defense- and getting as much as a 53-47 Senate majority. That would mean that Trump and the GOP would lose both the house and the Senate. The world of politics is constantly evolving and the outcome proves it.

This article was published on November 5, 2018 at 10:46 AM by Aaron Blake. The recent publishing date implies that the information provided in this article is accurate and up-to-date. Before I read this article, I always thought that politics didn't change at a constant rate and always had a one party majority for a descent amount of time. After reading this, I learned that the majority could change at any point in time. I could relate this article back to when the republicans took the majority of the house and senate from the democrats back when Barack Obama was president. Moreover, this article is directed towards the people of the United States and the purpose was to provide them with information about these particular parties. Finally this relates to U.S. history, because from the past, we could infer that each political party had its era. The federalists had its brief period and now, it's between the Democrats and Republicans.
