Alex Carrington- Ocasio-Cortez compares members of migrant caravan to Jews fleeing Nazi Germany

This article, written today, November 26,2018, draws attention to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s recent tweet. Ocasio-Cortez, who was elected to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District earlier this month, tweeted a comparison to migrant caravan members and Jewish families fleeing Nazi Germany as well other targets of genocide.
Over the weekend, hundreds of migrants from the Central American caravan rushed the border at the port of entry in San Ysidro, Calif, leading to a clash between those attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border and American border patrol. In response to these circumstances, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted:
“Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime.
It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany.
It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda.
It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria.
And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America”
U.S. border agents shot several rounds of tear gas towards some migrants that attempted to perforate points along the border and threw rocks at the patrol.  The Mexican government described Sunday's events as "acts of provocation" that were "far from helpful" for the migrants' objectives. I believe this to be true, however, I do not believe that these peoples’ main objective was to provoke the American patrolers.
Trump has recently tweeted- “Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!”

After reading this article, I have come to the conclusion that these political tweets by American politicians have GOT TO STOP! I completely understand wanting to get your views on the world heard, but there are so many other ways to accomplish that. Tweeting your political opinions is problematic for many reasons, but the main issue is that fact that Twitter is not the place for that. With the amount of people on twitter, it is nearly impossible to target a specific audience that relates to your cause. This makes it so easy for people of different backgrounds to call you ignorant- similar to the situation with Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet as well as MANY of Trump’s tweets.
