Chicago Shooting-- By Diya Ghayal

Summary: A police officer,  a doctor, and a medical assistant were all shot and killed in Chicago's Mercy Hospital, earlier today. Around 3:30 in the afternoon, it started off as a simple argument between the shooter and a female hospital employee, but as more people intervened, the police were called. The argument eventually escalated and the gunman pulled out a handgun and shot at the officers before they could even get out of their cars. Also, an innocent medical assistant was found to be shot to death, while trying to get out of the elevator. The gunman was found dead after the attack, but the investigators are currently unaware if the bullet that killed him came from the responding police officers or if it was self-inflicted.

Analysis: This article was updated a little over 2 hours ago, which makes the information extremely up to date and current. This specific shooting could be related to the mass uprising of armed shootings, such as the one that occurred in Denver, and the that occurred a few days ago in California. This article was written for people in American, to help us understand the harm that can be done by a "every-day" weapon, and the causes and effects of using a gun. I first figured out about this event, on a family group chat, because the majority of my family lives in Chicago. I was shocked to find that my aunt works in the building across from the hospital, and if she had shown up to work on her off day, she would have witnessed a live shooting and murder. I find it very sad that, like schools, where student are scared to learn because of their lack of safety, people can't come to hospitals anymore, because even though they are supposed to be treated and helped, they are technically unsafe. This article was written to open our eyes and minds up to the horrible events that are constantly happening, and how we, as a nation, are constantly making the same mistakes, with shootings, and murders, like this.
