Keyanna Smith- "Family demands to know why policeman killed man at Alabama mall"

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/26/us/alabama-mall-shooting-emantic-bradford/index.html

A 21 year old African American man (Bradford) was killed by an officer at a mall in Alabama and the family demands answers from Hoover police. It was stated that Bradford branished a gun when the policeman killed him. Meaning that they are saying that he was holding the gun in a threatening way. The police that shot him identified Bradford as a gunman that shot a 12 year old and a 18 year old but then later changed his story saying that witnesses indicated that Bradford might have been involved in an altercation at the mall. Bradford's family keeps saying that he wasn't a killer and they just want some answers.

I personally don't see the point of shooting at him even if the policeman thought that was was a gunman or that he was holding the gun in a threatening way that doesn't give him that right to just kill him. This connects to how people are so quick to judge what someone is or assume something about them. This whole situation is crazy and i hope the family gets some answers.

  1. There should be a more complex thought process that each officer should have before they shoot someone. To take someone's life is very serious and should always be the LAST result.

  2. I heard this on the radio this morning and the one thing that went through my mind was police are supposed to avoid confrontation and confusion and shooting did the exact opposite.

  3. I wrote about this too and I don't understand why the man was shot, he shouldn't have been killed. I hope his family gets the answers they wanted.
