Nicholas Brooks is facing 25 years to life in prison after being convicted of strangling his fashion designer girlfriend in the bathtub of a hotel room.
Nicholas Brooks was scheduled to appear in court today for sentencing. He was convicted in July of murder in the death of 33-year-old Sylvie Cachay. Her body was found in an bath tub on Dec. 9, 2010.
The two had a rocky six-month relationship. Prosecutors say he strangled her after she tried to end their relationship. The 27-year-old Brooks is the son of Joseph Brooks, who wrote "You Light Up My Life." He killed himself amid his own criminal investigation in 2011.

Ugh, why did he have to kill her? Like could he not have just walked away, or said "Hey I'm leaving you"? Of course not... The only logical thing to do in that situation is to murder somebody.
It also doesn't make sense that it took the  court so long to determine the verdict. He openly admitted to strangling the poor women, so why did they hesitate on sentencing him?  I understand that her swimsuits weren't all that  amazing... But murder is never the answer. All jokes aside, this guy is a lunatic. He tormented Sylvie all throughout their short relationship, when all he really needed to do was leave!

  1. Felicia Padilla 5th period. Wow. This makes me scared to live life. It really makes you take a second and consider the people you surround yourself with. Imagine one day telling your friend that you like the same person they do, what if the next time they come over to your house they kill you? For me personally, it seems like people who kill other people are just taking the easy way out of a situation because they don't want to have to deal face to face with some of their real problems.

  2. This is horrible. It's really sad to know that people would kill for the littles reasons such as a break up.

  3. That's horrible! I can't believe the justice system takes that long to work if he even said he was guilty?

  4. I read about this before and it is so sad. I think this really makes people have trust issues with other people because you never know what might happen.

  5. This is disgusting. As terrible as it is to take your own life to take someone else's is infinitely worse; because now your friends and family have to deal with the idea of what a monster you are and the victims friends and family have to deal with the insurrmounable grief that comes with unexpected loss. That was awful and selfish.
