Catwalk scandal By: Valerie Coahuilas

A British supermodel experiences a most uncomfortable situation when a Femen activist comes onto the catwalk and confronts the model lifting up her skirt and exposing her in front of many in a cry against the supposed over sexualization of the fashion industry. The model, Hollie-May Sakerpunched the activist square in the nose and stated that while she was taken back by the confusion and shock, she had to take it professionally and continue on without hesitating. The fashion industry may be taking things too far at some points but there are always better ways at voicing opinions and being heard. Perhaps Femen activists should go about things in a more "professional" approach like Hollie-May.

  1. I do believe that the modeling industry objectifies women, but this is a terrible way to protest it. Femen is just further objectifying and disrespecting the model. That punch on the nose was well deserved.

  2. Isn't it overly contradicting to oppose the oversexualization/objectification of women by lifting a model's skirt up and showing her body to the world? What was the real point in doing that? It's like the bombing for peace thing.

  3. This is so gross oh my gosh! I hope this lady packs a good punch. Of course the modeling world is filled with oversexualization and objectification, but so are so many other things and I'm sure that for many people this industry really means something to them. Also, nothing in the world gives anyone the right to just publicly violate them like that. There are always better ways with which to express one's opinion
